How to get organised for your family session:

Read through the session planner have a look through the location guide and client wardrobe then fill in your questionnaire. This helps me understand what you would like most out of the session and our time together.

Keep in touch

If you would like to chat, have a client wardrobe try or ask a question please just reach out email is always the best way to contact me so that I have all our conversations in one place.

On the day of your session please keep your phone handy. I will contact you directly if I am concerned about the weather.

Session day

Preparation is key, allocate time to get ready so you don't feel rushed as I want you to really enjoy the session. Make sure everyone's clothes are clean, fit and put aside. Depending on the kids ages you can always dress them when you arrive at location. I suggest having a back up clothes in the car incase there is an accident or spillage at the session. If you are wearing an item from the client wardrobe I will bring with me just have something easy to slip on at the end when changing.

Once we are there it's time to let go of any stresses of the day and just be in the moment. Enjoy time with your family.

What happens next?

2 weeks after our session you will receive your preview images to choose from. This is when you are welcome to upgrade if you wish to. 2 weeks later you will receive your final image gallery ready to download, save and share.

How to prepare your family for your shoot

Good to know

Just a few tips to get ready for the session - try to be organised this means having everyone's outfits put aside and ready a week prior to your session. Prioritise the session especially the needs of your kid/s, naps and a full belly etc. You are investing in this experience so to give it your best shot at having them happy and their best selves. Your kids just want to be with you, if you show up and just have fun with them and allow your personalities to shine, you will have the best photos and memories.

Good to know:

1.

Be on time & be the fun

Please be on time for your session and keep your phone on you incase I need to reach you. If you are having a sunset session and are late unfortunately that cuts into our session time. Once the sunsets and the light has gone we simply do not have the opportunity to extend.

I want you to go into the session with the assignment of just spending an hour of unplugged time together, let the kids be kids. Take my gentle direction and prompts and just make it your own. You will know how to get the best belly laughs and that cheeky personality out of them.

2.

What to bring

I will have my camera bag that you can pop in keys, phones and any spare items like nappies/wipes that you may need. That way I I can carry it while we are shooting. If you can avoid bringing anything else thats great just have things in the car incase a parent needs to whip back and grab it.

Car items I recommend having items are:

  • Spare clothes incase of accident or needing an additional warmer layer
  • Water bottle for washing feet and towel if your session is at the beach
  • Water bottle and snacks - just incase your kid/s need think dry food that doesn't make a mess

3.

Details often over looked

Have your nails photo ready. Your hands will feature a lot in the photos with your kids so if you can try to avoid chipped nail polish that would be fab. This is also an opportunity to do your hair and make up and wear something you feel amazing in. I recommend as a minimum having some mascara AND some lip balm on to avoid having dry lips in the images.

Reason for postponing your session:

  • If anyone in your household that's attending the session is sick
  • If I am sick or I am needed to care for my son if he's unwell
  • If the weather is extremely windy/raining/low light

I will keep an eye on the weather forecast and will be in touch with you on the day around lunch time should we need to discuss bringing the start time forward if the weather is overcast (really cloudy) or if we need to postpone and look at my next availability for you. I try to keep my afternoon shoots to a maximum of 2 per week so that I can be more flexible should we need to rearrange date for a better weather opportunity. Unfortunately weather is out of our control so I encourage you to just embrace what ever happens on the day of your session.
