A little note from me
Those very first 48 hours with your baby are unlike anything else — a blur of emotion, wonder, exhaustion, and a love so overwhelming it takes your breath away. Your Fresh 48 Session is designed to preserve these fleeting moments before they become treasured memories.
My biggest hope is that you feel completely at ease during your session. There is no need to prepare or perform — simply be present with your baby. Whether you're soaking in newborn cuddles, navigating those first feeds, or quietly taking it all in, I'll gently document your story as it unfolds.
I can't wait to meet your newest little love.

where your story begins
Super fresh sessions are taken ideally within the first 48hours after baby is born. However any time within the first 5 days depending on your recovery and my availability.

Home

If you’ve had a home birth or headed home shortly after birth and would love to have your session in your own space, this is a beautiful option. A home Fresh 48 session allows for a more documentary-style approach, capturing your new family as you settle into this next chapter together.
Being at home gives us the opportunity to include more of those everyday moments — baby’s first bath, a shower together, feeding in bed, a quiet coffee on the couch, or simply soaking up those newborn cuddles. It also allows for more privacy and freedom, giving you the space to slow down, enjoy more skin-to-skin moments, and simply be present with your baby without the interruptions that naturally come with a hospital stay.

hospital

Most Fresh 48 sessions take place in hospital. There is something so special about capturing those first moments in the very place your baby was born — the tiny name tag around their foot, the hospital bassinet, and those first cuddles in your arms. I will come to the hospital at 10am (during visiting hours) and bring only my camera, allowing the session to feel simple, relaxed, and unobtrusive. I’ll document your fresh new baby exactly as they are — resting in their bassinet, snuggled on your lap, or safely held in your arms. Please know that if your OB, midwife, or any member of your care team needs to come in, I will pause the session and continue once they have finished. Your recovery, your comfort, and your care are the most important things right now.

these moments
For Mum
For mum I suggest having something that is postpartum and breastfeeding friendly (if you are able/choosing to breastfeed). Please do not expect to slip back into your jeans just after having your baby. Choose something that is easy and comfortable for you to wear for the whole day as you won't feel like dressing up and changing outfits. Most mums will wear a nice loungewear set or stretchy pants/leggings and a shirt, it's entirely up to you. Lighter colours are preferred.
I recommend having baby just in a nappy and wrapped in a blanket that way we can easily unwrap them during the session to capture their belly button, fingers and toes.

Staying Connected
Communication is key throughout this process. If you have a planned induction, C-section, or notice signs that labour may be starting, please keep me updated. Once your baby arrives, simply let me know and we’ll organise a time for me to come and capture those beautiful first moments together.
the fresh 48 sweet spot
Why? This is the next best thing to birth photography — capturing your baby exactly as they are in those first precious days. They change so quickly within the first few weeks, and those early moments can become such a blur.
The goal is simply to have baby comfortable and content — whether they are awake, asleep, or feeding. I’m there to document them as they are, preserving all those tiny details you never want to forget.
I completely understand that at the time this may feel like the absolute last thing you want to do. You’ve just had your baby, you’re recovering, you might have been up multiple times throughout the night, your hormones are all over the place, you’re exhausted, and you’re learning how to care for this tiny new person. I’ve been there too.
Give yourself grace. I’m here to support you, make sure you’re comfortable, and take care of the little details so you can simply relax and enjoy this moment. This is a time to lay in bed, soak up those newborn cuddles, and stare at the beautiful baby you grew inside your belly.
Trust me — you’ll be so glad you did.
From a photographer’s perspective, the best window of opportunity for super fresh photos is when baby is within 48 hours old.

FAQ

What happens during a Fresh 48 session?
There is no pressure to pose or create anything staged. These sessions are about documenting your baby exactly as they are in those first hours — their tiny fingers and toes, first cuddles, feeding, sleepy moments, sibling introductions, and the overwhelming love that fills the room.
What if I have a C-section or difficult birth?
Every birth and recovery journey is different, and your wellbeing always comes first. If you need extra time to rest and recover, we can work around how you’re feeling and create a session that feels calm, gentle, and supportive.
What if my baby is unsettled during the session?
That’s completely normal. Your baby is brand new and still adjusting to the world. Feeding, changing, rocking, and cuddling are all part of this season, and I’ll simply work around your baby’s needs and capture those real moments as they unfold.
How long does the session take?
Fresh 48 sessions are relaxed and intentional, lasting around 45 minutes. This allows enough time to capture those precious first moments, including cuddles, feeding, tiny details, and the natural connection between you and your baby without feeling rushed.
What happens next?
1 month prior to your session you will receive a Fresh 48 questionnaire this is when you can fill in all the details and we can have a chat to lock everything in! I am always available on email should you need to get in touch sooner.

A final note from me

Thank you for trusting me to capture these precious first moments with your baby.
It is such a privilege to be invited into this beautiful beginning — the tiny details, first cuddles, sleepy moments, and the overwhelming love that fills those first hours together. These moments are fleeting, and my hope is to preserve this chapter for you to hold onto for years to come.
There is no need for perfection. Your baby doesn’t need to be perfectly settled, and you don’t need to have everything prepared. These first days are beautifully raw and unpredictable, and that is what makes them so special.
My goal is to create a calm space where you can simply be present with your baby while I gently document your story.
I can’t wait to meet you and your newest little love soon.
